845 Subie Race Team

Updated: Aug 10, 2025

Every race team has to start somewhere, and for 845 Subie Racing, it all begins with a 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon. Equal parts underdog and icon, this chassis gives us the perfect platform to launch our club racing journey.

We chose the WRX Wagon not just for its rally-bred roots, but for its versatility, all-wheel drive confidence, and bulletproof EJ205 engine. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be transforming this street sleeper into a competitive track machine — focusing on safety, suspension, braking, and power in that order.

The plan?

  • Strip and cage – Out goes the interior, in comes a proper roll cage.

  • Track-ready suspension – Coilovers, bushings, and a dialed alignment setup.

  • Braking upgrades – Bigger rotors, performance pads, and stainless lines.

  • Power and tune – Supporting mods and a conservative tune to keep reliability in check.

  • Wheels and aero – Lightweight wheels, sticky tires, and subtle aero to keep us planted.

This is more than a build — it’s a foundation. The WRX Wagon will carry our team through its first season of time attack and club racing events, and we can’t wait to share the process with our followers and fellow enthusiasts.

Stay tuned as we document the journey, the challenges, and the wins — on and off the track.
